Laat Saab

The task was to recreate the Indian culture during the British colonial times back into the restaurant space. The research was done accordingly, keeping in mind the industrialization in India, railways during British rule, the arts & crafts that flourished during colonial times. A set of layouts were made for the same keeping in mind Indian heritage and culture.

(Above):The sign board of the restaurant is inspired by the traditional wax seals used on letters during British raj. (Right): The guns and the dear head represents the royalty during colonial times.

A train coach was painted on the kitchen wall which shows local Indians of that era traveling via Indian railway.

(Above):The famous Indian Nataraja deity and the map of colonial India during British raj was painted on canvas and framed in an antique wood.

A wall partition using the textile motifs of India was created on glass.

One of the tables was painted with acrylics using tribal patterns from the colonial India.
